Description of some STID deleted scenes

Feb 26, 2014 23:44

TrekCore posted this today, but sadly it is just an article describing the scenes. Due to rights issues, they can't actually post the actual scenes themselves, which pisses me off considering that nothing like this was put on the DVD/Blu-Ray release. One of them explains why Carol has an English accent. But we can add some gifs to what should've ( Read more... )

This whole extras thing with this movie has just been a load of bullshizz from start to finish. I've been trying to collate the featurettes from YouTube, but it's like slogging through tar.
I am so annoyed.

it's a good thing this movie has Cumberbatch in it, because otherwise... oh man, oh, man...

ST XIII spoiler: NOBODY CARES ANYMORE. so annoyed

And they wonder why ST fans are so mad. I wish Paramount would wise up and let someone who cares write and direct and produce the next one, the way the BBC did with Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary.

And to think I'm still mad at this movie after all this time.

Seems like it'd be a major, massive screw up of titanic proportions to not release the next movie by the Trek 50th anniversary in 2016, so I'd imagine the studio would really push for that deadline. I just can't figure out why it takes so long to come up with a script. Four years to make the second one and it was a rehash of an old movie? Sheesh.

I recently watched "Decoy Bride" with Alice Eve co-starring with David Tennant, and in that she did a perfectly fine American accent. That makes me even more puzzled why they decided to have Marcus have an English accent...and then cut the explanation for it.

Yeah...I may be dense but I'm not getting the whole "He was my lover" thing. Whut? That scene was one of my favorites in the movie so I think they made the right choice changing that.

Somewhere (Trektoday?) it was said that Lindelof wanted to have Khan return in the next movie. *facepalm* Thank goodness he's no longer on the writing team.

I agree that it would be a big mistake on the studio's part to not release the next movie in 2016 for the anniversary.

At Destination Star Trek Germany last weekend, Karl Urban said during his panel that the movie is definitely set for 2016, and that filming would begin this fall.
I don't remember 100% whether he said that there was a script already, but he was very definite about the movie being set for release in 2016.

I'm not entirely sure how much that means because a script rushed to get the movie made in time for the anniversary could become an epic fail (but then again, they had plenty of time for the script of Into Darkness, and I'm still bitter about that one). Of course I'm not sure how the chain of information works in movie business, since Karl Urban is an actor and thusly not really involved in the movie's pre-production issues, but I thought I'd throw it out here that he said from his status of information, he's convinced it will be out in 2016.

I would imagine Karl Urban would be in a good position to know something, as he's currently in Almost Human, which is, I think, another Bad Robot production. (I have no idea which BR people run that show.)

I don't know who runs the show, either (though I didn't even consider that he is in another Bad Robot production currently). At the very least I imagine that they would generally need to set filming dates quite some time in advance since actors have other commitments, as well, and the production needs to make sure that an actor is actually free for the timeframe.
