I heard that JJ sort of endorsed the guy who directed the last Planet of the Apes movie recently, I don't know is it true though. I just heard it as second hand info last night from my dad. But if the ever-so-secretive JJ is going around publicly endorsing people, we may have our man already. I don't really have a problem with JJ as a director, he can tell a big and loud Hollywood blockbuster well. But as long as Orci and Kurtzman are still on writing duties. And esp. Orci after his shit storm rant at fans who were critical of STID recently.

Hope all is well on your end. :-)

Good. Maybe the new director will be someone who actually LIKES and UNDERSTANDS Star Trek, instead of someone who wishes it were actually Star Wars.

Can we have Dorothy Fontana write the script? Or Leonard Nimoy? Or a real science fiction author, like Robert J. Sawyer or Lois McMaster Bujold?

OMG can you just imagine Leonard Nimoy directing the next one??? XDD that movie would be fucking amazing.

I already know for a fact nimoy won't do it. He doesnt like directing that much.
But...OMG we can dream!

David Gerrold's a pretty decent director...maybe he should have a shot at it.
Even Leonard's son, Adam. That would be neat.

I don't blame Abrams nearly as much as I blame Orci and Kurtzman. Abrams, after all, was not a Star Trek fan and didn't know anything about the series, thus his gaffes are understandable. Orci and Kurtzman, on the other hand, claim to be longtime ST fans, so their deplorable pissing in Roddenberry's soup is inexcusable.

(Yeah, I finally got around to watching that...thing. Had to turn it off halfway through. Christ, what a clusterfuck. It's exactly the sort of derivative shoot-em-up nonsense I'd feared. And the clumsiness of the references was embarrassing. I really can't think of a single thing I saw that was anywhere near the quality of any ST I'd seen before. Spock's Brain was better, for gods' sakes.)

O&K only wish they could come up with lines as memorable as "Brain and brain, WHAT IS BRAIN??"
