I seriously doubt the writers put that much thought into it. They waited until the last minute to write a script, cribbed from one of the previous movies to save time, and didn't do any research at all into who Khan was. That's my theory. I'd like to see this series, but it sounds to me like it's an attempt to dig themselves out of a hole with it and explain away their carelessness.

But yeah, Cumberbunny did the best job with it I think anyone could've done.
