Spoilers: poll opinion

Jul 12, 2013 20:19

It's been more than 2 months since Star Trek Into Darkness opened in the UK and it still hasn't premiered in a lot of countries!!!!!

So, fellow GQMF's, I ask: are spoilers moot by now? Has everybody seen the movie (either in a theater or not)? And if you still haven't seen it, do you mind spoilers? Have you been spoiled already? In conclusion

Spoilers should be allowed, but I think it should be comm policy to put spoilers under an Lj-cut

That is the current policy, but let me tell you it's getting harder and harder to post anything without a spoiler. New comic book. Guess what? Big old spoiler in caps on the front cover. Particularly THAT spoiler has literally become impossible to avoid.

I still haven't seen it. :(
I want to so badly, but I have a hard time being in a theater for an extended period of time because of a disability, so I'm going to have to wait until dvd. I would like spoilers to stay under a lj-cut if possible, personally.

Like I said before, some spoilers are becoming so ubiquitous it's becoming neigh on impossible to post something without a spoiler.

We will probably keep the policy up for now, but unfortunately, we cannot keep the spoiler policy for ever, so I'm afraid after it opens all over the world (Japan is last, I think), the spoilers are a go. I will post a spoiler warning before that happens though, so you can filter the comm out, if you so wish. Sorry.

A warning post would be great, I'd appreciate that. I understand the need to post some spoilery things and I can filter out when spoilers go up until I see the film.

I think it's out in most of North America and Europe. However, some parts of Asia and South America are later this month and August (!!!!).

I honestly don't mean to be rude or thoughtless...it's just that at this point, I'd think you'd have to avoid all things Star Trek all over the Internet to avoid any spoilers to the movie. I don't know how you'd manage to not see something somewhere. It's driving me a bit nuts that you can't have a discussion of the movie without putting it behind spoiler cuts. There's always going to be someone, somewhere out there that hasn't seen it. It's kind of like not being able to talk about "Rosebud" being Kane's childhood sled in "Citizen Kane"....or that Rhett left Scarlett at the end of Gone With the Wind....or that "Soylent Green" was PEEEEOOOPPPLEE!!! I knew who Cumberbatch was playing when I went into the theater, and actually a lot of stuff about the plot...but that really didn't change the experience for me. Guess I'm weird. And cranky.

I think the movie is available, at least in the US, by digital download Aug. 20th and on DVD/Blu-ray Sept. 10. Don't know if this applies to the rest of the world, though.

The info about when it's available for download is really helpful. Thanks! I'm glad to know I'll be able to be in on the fun soon.

Glad I could be encouraging in some small way at least! :) I'm sure it's frustrating to want to be surprised but trying to avoid the spoilers. I think the powers that be should've done a better job with their release dates....I don't know if it's common to have a movie released over three months in various parts of the world, but it seems like bad timing to me.

I still haven't seen it but IMDB spilled the beans before I even *wanted* to see it. I guess I'll wait until it comes out on dvd.

However, I would like spoilers under an LJ cut. Pretty please with sugar on top?

I love you all my GQMF!
