I still mourn the potential of Gary Mitchell. Wouldn't it have been awesome if Kirk had a past with the baddie, and then Spock was all jealz & tons of fanfic ensued? Plus then Cumberbaby wouldn't have had to stand stiffly spouting technobabble like a robot, he could have, you know...had a real human to play, with real relationships & joy & pathos.
What's up with Carol's last name? I thought it was Marcus? Is Marcus her married name? If only I cared enough to look it up on Memory Alpha.
Every clip I see discourages me more. They all seem so flat and predictable. I'm praying that the movie pays off better when viewed as a whole than when seen in clips.
I really don't think he's Khan. I think JJ is just being a troll. Because honestly, he wouldn't spend 4 years keeping this film completely under wraps only to give away the big reveal a couple weeks before the US premiere...at least, I hope he wouldn't. (Also, I just really don't want him to be Khan :P)
I'm leaning toward the theory that Wallace is Carol's mother's maiden name, personally.
Considering most of us have not seen the movie, I feel it's safe to say that anything containing footage from the movie should be treated as spoiler and tagged as such for those of us who want to get to the cinema completely spoiler-virgin.
That said, there are a number of things that give us clues about the plot, for instance, those 72 reasons Harrison mentions are the number of cryo-cells on the Botany Bay from TOS, this being a huge hint that might confirm that BC is indeed playing Khan, that or JJ is just trolling us, as someone already suggested.
Also, Spock said in the second clip 'now I am back on the Enterprise', where did he go? Why wasn't he on the ship? On a related note, I know he's probably weary of this new Science Officer, but the look on his face when Kirk says 'the more the merrier' and asks Carol to sit down is priceless.
Speaking of, I too think Carol is using her mother's maiden name, perhaps to avoid the idea she got the job through nepotism? I don't know...
No worries. I too am super-eager to watch the whole movie.
To be honest, I'm not too worried about all those clips that have been released so far, I think that they've been taken so out of context that we shouldn't judge them individually, I think that the only purpose they serve is as little teasers to give us some material to wildly speculate or watch over and over to help us pass the time till the movie opens in our respective countries.
I am firmly convinced this movie will surpass the previous one and that IS saying something.
