I still wish the uniform dress had sleeves! That said, hells yeah action Marcus! I have a feeling she's just going to BAMF her way through this film.

Yeah, without the sleeves you lose the officer insignia. Somehow I don't think a military organization is going to go for Hot!Babe over uniform efficiency.

Yeah eh! That's my main frustration with it. I think it would also just look better with longer sleeves but I mostly like the idea of having the rank on the sleeve and I'm surprised they didn't go for that. Maybe it will show up on the dress uniforms we keep seeing.

Good lord that woman is stunning. She has such beautiful, delicate feature. And I LOVE that she is a real Trek fan, you can tell by her interviews that she really does love the show.

Um, when did Carol become a Starfleet officer? She was an independent scientist, and certainly not part of Starfleet. I mean, yeah, alternate timeline, but they're completely rewriting a character here.

*sigh*

They can get away with this because it was never mentioned in Khan. All we know about 'our' Marcus is that she had Kirk got it on, and didn't want Kirk involved with David's upbringing. I've always liked to think that Gary Mitchell's comment of introducing Kirk to that blonde woman was Marcus, and others do too. So Orci, Kurtzman and Lindelof could've taken that as inspiration to assume that 'our' Kirk, Mitchell and Marcus all went to the Academy together. Personally, I've no problem with her being in Starfleet.

Actually it was mentioned. Remember that argument she had with her son? It was made clear through what they were saying that although their research was funded by Starfleet, they were not part of it. "I told you scientists have always been pawns of the military!" That's not something an officer says. And Kirk was not given to dallying with other Starfleet officers, either.
