I wandered across this in my daily search for news. Giacchino's music is pretty integral to the feel of the new Star Trek movies, so while this is a little different from what's normally posted, I think it's still relevant and fun to see his process. I didn't use to pay attention to classical film scores really until Michael Giacchino and Star Trek XI. That's the first time that I bought a soundtrack and listened to it regularly (and I still listen to it). I can't wait to see what he has in store for the new movie!

Another film score I really love is the one to Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 by Alexandre Desplat.

I loved his score for the 2009 film. I've said this in another post, but I really hope he can break the recent trend of "meh" soundtracks so I can add some new stuff to my work playlists.

He's the only one out there right now who I think can reach Jerry Goldsmith type levels of awesome.

Labor of Love never fails to make me tear up a bit. Enterprising Young Men is probably my favorite though. I remember when it played and the entire theater broke out into wild cheers and applause as we saw the Starfleet logo appear on screen. It was AWESOME.
