I'm honestly OK with not knowing for sure. I enjoy the game and I'll be super impressed if they manage to keep secret what is obviously a twist in the narrative until the movie is released. Remember that crazy hunt for clues that they made us do in the lead-up to the 2009 movie release? That was pretty awesome and a lot of fun!

I read this article http://www.hitfix.com/motion-captured/a-day-at-bad-robot-gives-us-a-better-look-at-star-trek-into-darkness/3 it's a theory about who Ben is playing. It's a really good theory in my opinion.

I could see this working. It makes as much sense as several other theories (and far more sense than some of the less likely ones put forth). If they were doing this storyline, I wonder how the [Spoiler (click to open)] comment about what would you do for your family comes in? It seems that depending on the cut of the trailer, the line can be seen as either threatening or sort of rhetorical.

I think it's rhetorical. It may just be me, but it sounds like Ben's character is crying when he says that.

Yeah I can definitely hear that now. I just went back and re-watched it. At the very least, he sounds very emotional when he says it. It's like he's explaining what he's done by asking Kirk, "well wouldn't you do the same thing for the people you loved?"

Any particular reason why, just out of curiosity? I've followed the site for years and always had a fun time there. Also, I wasn't trying to upset anyone (although I guess I did?!). Just trying to point Trek fans to sources of info that they may be unaware of.

None of regular users consider the site official and the site doesn't claim to be official. What it does try to do is present information objectively and let the reader decide for himself/herself. If some of the information presented is conjecture, Anthony says as much. He's always made it clear when something is officially confirmed versus when the information is rumored and from sources who aren't necessarily official but have enough clout so that the information they're giving should be considered. Now whether it should be believed, he always leaves up to the reader ( ... )

This means he HAS to be someone from canon if they are playing so close to the chest. I mean what harm would there be in saying "Nah, he's new" if he was? You definitely wouldn't know anything about the villain whereas if they say "Oh hey, he's Col Gary Khanbok of Tribble" Then all of a sudden people know a lot about the villain and the reveal isn't that spectacular in the movie.

"Col Gary Khanbok of Tribble" is a glorious name.

Just noticed John Harrison is same number of letters in each name as Gary Mitchell... its a thought...

I mean John Harrison COULD be his name in the movie but its his assumed title or something and his real name is something we'd know; it'd be a good loophole for what they've claimed so far.
