Many people thought that Johnny was underscored not based on his skating but based on who he is as a person. It has everything to do with what the Human Rights Campaign is about so it makes perfect sense for him to talk about it here.
Oh I know. I'm one of those people actually, and I know that it's relevant to what HRC does. It's just that I think talking about how he should have gotten a medal, as opposed to higher marks, is misleading to people who don't know much about skating. It ties into all sorts of arguments about the merits of performance and passion vs the math of the game. He was underscored, and I think there's a stronger argument there than "he deserved a medal."
