This is a you oughta know post for Amanda Dobbs, who happens to have her first Senior grand prix assignment, Cup of China, this year!

Why is she important to you? Why shouldn't she be important to you? For one, she happens to have a work ethic rival to Evan's.

Amanda, with her singles coach, Todd Sand.

At 16, Amanda competed at 2010 US Nationals in both pairs and singles, in the same two week span. It was her first senior nationals for both and she placed 6th in ladies' singles and 7th in pairs, with her partner, Joseph Jacobson. That's pretty amazing for a sixteen year old who also has to balance school, friends, and the general asshattery of being a teenager. She wants to win in both pairs and ladies singles.

She has great presence on the ice and I have to agree with Scott Hamilton(lolwut) that she knows how to compete. She's far from perfect right now but she's pretty damn good and definitely one to watch this season. She's also very accomplished already!

Now, onto the fun stuff! Pictures and vids!

lol icenetwork profile and the totally important favorites section:

In addition to her singles career, she also skates pairs with Joseph Jacobsen.

Started skating around age 3 after seeing Michelle Kwan perform at an ice show ... Coached by Tammy Gambill from 2008-09 and Tracy Prussack from 1999-2007 ... Coaches at her rink ... Biggest influence in her life is her pairs skating partner, Joe - "He has always been there for me and helps me in so many ways, I can't even begin to explain!" ... If she weren't a skater, she'd want to be a snowboarder ... Enjoys cooking, baking, knitting, listening to new music and reading ... Favorite things to bake are brownies, fudge and her all-time favorite, peanut butter balls ... Uncle played professional baseball for the Texas Rangers ... Mother competed at the junior national level as a competitive swimmer, and her brother, Connor, swims at the national level ... Would like to meet Michael Phelps because "I would love to hear his thoughts on skating...not to mention being able to see how much he eats!" ... Something not many people know about her is she turns off running water and the lights in her house so that her family doesn't use as much energy ... Biggest life-defining moment was when her family moved to southern California ... Would like to perform in shows and become a physical therapist after she's done competing ...Follow her on Twitter at www.twitter.com/amandadobbssk8s.
