IT'S TIME FOR A

DREW MEEKINS/JULIA VLASSOV APPRECIATION POST!

A look back at this fabulous pair who eneded their partnership in 2007. I'll also talk about his career with Jessica Rose Paetsch but it wasn't quite as ~illustrious.

Competitive Highlights
~2006 World Junior Champions~
4 pre-Senior U.S. medals, including a Novice gold
5 JGP medals, including a gold at 2005 Belgrade.

Meekins (25) was born in Juneau, Alaska and grew up in Wellesley, MA. He currently lives in Colorado Springs. Vlassov (19) was born in St. Petersburg, Russia and grew up in Hudson, MA. They teamed up in 2002.

Costumes aside, they seemed to be well-matched, trusting partners and were quite successful.

However, Meekins and Vlassov ended their partnership in 2007.

Jessica Rose Paetsch (17) is from Centennial, CO. She teamed with Meekins in 2008.

They placed 10th at the 2009 U.S. championships. After qualifying for the 2010 Nationals, they ended their partnership in Dec. 2009.

Vlassov and Paetsch have apparently retired from competitive skating.

Drew now writes a blog with Sarah Brennan called "Inside Edge" at IceNetwork and is actively looking for a new partner. Wishing him the best of luck!

ETA: Drew was a singles skater from age 12 to 16, and is quite good at it. Here is a solo performance from this year:
