Danse macabre, Op.40 by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns is an art song for voice and piano (first performed in 1872) with a French text by the poet Henri Cazalis which is based in an old French superstition. Two years later, the composer expanded and reworked the piece into a tone poem for orchestra, replacing the vocal line with a solo violin. (THANKS WIKIPEDIA)
AND THIS LITTLE PIECE OF ART WAS CHOSEN AND EDITED BY DAVID WILSON FOR YU-NA AS A SHORT PROGRAM FOR THE 2008-2009 SEASON.
LIKE DAVID SAID: “Our choice to go with Danse Macabre this year was inspired by [the] feeling Yu-na needed a piece that had a lot of strength and dramatic tension behind it,” Wilson said. “I wanted her to feel powerful and the concept behind the choreography is just that. joongangdaily.joins.com/article/view.asp
