The Next Competitor - A Review (and Picspam)

Mar 28, 2010 22:50

So earlier this week at ontd_skating there was a post alerting the comm to the existence of a novel that strangely enough had an unusual number of similarities to a certain figure skater's personal life and career. Intrigued, I bought the book, read it this weekend, and decided I would share my impressions. So without further ado, I present a rambling review ( Read more... )

You could actually read down to the picture of Drew Meekins and Julia Vlassov without encountering any major spoilers if you want.

LMAO. SO.

I bought it and read it and I have to say: LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

It was a good book and a nice, quick read tho.

I encountered so many RL/fiction crossovers that while I was reading suddenly I would burst into giggles and run to my sister to show her my latest find.

Oh, there's also a cameo of Domshabs--Oksana and Maxim. It amuses me greatly that it's their exact names in the book and in RL. In the book they just don't have last names...

Hm. I may make a post about the book listing all the inaccuracies, too, since I saw so many...

This post is so hilarious and entertaining now that I've read the book. xD

Yes, it is a fictional book. It just happens to rip off large portions of Johnny Weir's life.

IT WAS APPARENTLY WRITTEN BY A FAN FICTION AUTHOR THEN PULLED OFF THE INTERNET AND THE NAMES CHANGED SO IT COULD BE PUBLISHED

ONE OF MY FAVORITE AUTHORS FROM ANOTHER FANDOM DID THAT, I WENT LOOKING FOR IT ONE DAY AND IT WAS GONE AND I WAS LIKE "WUH" AND TURNS OUT SHE WAS TRYING TO GET IT PUBLISHED LOL
