Lol like they were going to leave Ashley off the Olympic team. I feel bad for Mirai since her GP results weren't horrible, but that's what happens when a committee makes the decision and play it way safe.

Congrats to Polina, but her presentation marks were way over-marked and her scores are gonna drop like a stone at the Olympics even if she skates perfect.

I'm crushed about Mirai, but I do think Ashley deserves to go. Ah! IDK, mixed feelings.

I was kind of surprised they didn't put Caydee and John through, tbh. But I'm really happy for Felicia and Nathan. They deserve it.

And gah, I'm going to be so nervous watching Meryl and Charlie's skates. I wonder if they will skate both events for the team competition?

They were never going to leave off Ashley, no matter what. I'm surprised Mirai got bumped; I must admit I thought USFSA would make some excuse about Polina not having any senior international experience and how they didn't want her first taste of that to be Olympics.

That said, she's 15 and very much the number 3, no matter the nationals results. In 4 years time, she'll be 19, a possible/hopeful medal contender...and even in 2022 she'll only be 23. I think they're playing the long game with her and hoping for no injuries/growth spurts/anything that can derail a young skater's career, and giving her the shot at Olympics now, with no pressure, so that in 4/8 years' time, she has that under her belt and can contend for a medal.

I'm feeling meh about this. Mirai has tanked before. She's not consistent. She didn't really skate that program.. Between wonderful jumps, she lumbered, paused,l and lumbered again.. She'll appeal it. And she should. The committee wants an American (sure, like it's really going to happen) with a chance to medal. I have no patience with Ashley. That girl bores me to death and for all we know she'll screw up at the Olympics. I don't see any of the three American ladies getting any kind of medals anyhow. Not with Adelena Sotnikova (who???) and 15 year old Julia Lipnetskaia out there. And deep contenders from Canada. It looks even worse for the men. Japan should get a bloat load of metals.
