I was kind of relieved to hear this news. I'm not really crazy about Plushenko, and it seems clear to me the injuries have taken their toll on him.

Yeah, in the long run his fans will care more that they can still see him skate than how many medals he racked up. Nothing is worth destroying your body, not even Olympic gold.

Uhhh, do you not get why he came out of retirement? He was trying to help his country. Kovtun was looking bad. Now he's better. Plushenko did the right thing by unretiring, and the right thing by stepping back now that Kovtun's on form.
