I'M SURE AS YOU ALL REMEMBER THREE YEARS AGO I MADE A POST ABOUT HOW MACHIDA AND YUZURU WERE THE FUTURE OF JAPANESE SKATING. NOW THE PREMONITION HAS COME TO PASS AND IT'S TIME FOR ME TO PREDICT THE NEW FUTURE OF JAPANESE SKATING

I like Riona and Marin is such a star, I really hope she'll continue to be successful (lol @ me having hope in a novice lady though /o\) I hope Keiji manages to get his shit together eventually. And Shoma is my fave but his jump technique is so... ;___;
ikr I try so hard not to have faith in Marin but at the same time I think heck if Mao has managed to last this long (even tho she had terrible technique and had to rework her jumps) then maybe she has a chance too. I mean Akiko even gives me the hope that girls who struggle in their late teens/early 20s can still make a comeback. I just like being optimistic XD I like to believe Shoma's jumps will magically get better as he grows but I really hope he gets a jump coach next season.
laaaaaaaaaaaate reply but yeah akiko gives me hope for all ladies! you never know who might be a late bloomer. the juniors look a bit dire right now but maybe some of them will pull an akiko and start winning things when they're 24 lmao
i kind of want shoma to leave yamada :( maybe he can go to the satos since mao is leaving, and maybe taka too (though i hope he stays). idk i don't know enough about japanese coaches unfortunately. but he needs to do something about his jumps. it might already be too late though.
i hope sota yamamoto ends up making a breakthrough. he needs to stop bombing his free skates but he's just a bb now after all
I definitely want Shoma to leave Yamada but I don't know who he could go to that would be able to help him out :/
When I was reading the forums for the JNats two or three people who were there in person mentioned how great Sota's SP was. They said he was fast and had great presence and even though people weren't paying attention at the beginning at the end a lot of people stood for him. So I have high hopes for him haha maybe next season or the season after...
I think as single ladies skaters, Japan will rule for a long, long time. American ladies suck big time. It will be probably decades if they can come even near one medal. The era of Kwan, etc is long over. RIP I never pay attention to men skaters, so I have no idea who might metal in Worlds or Olympics. Russia may be a threat with that 15 year old Julia Lipnitskaya. however.
They have 1 senior pair, and I think they have 4 senior dance teams but only the Reeds are decent. They really need to work hard on pairs and dance if they want to compete in the team event for the next Olympics.
There are a ton of talented young Russian skaters and I think we may be heading in to a period where podiums will all have Russians on top. The US also has some talented young skaters like Karen Chen and even Canada managed to beat Japan at junior worlds last year >.< But jr worlds =/= how things will work out in the future (as we have seen with the US skaters). So I'm definitely still hoping the Japanese skaters will be able to do well in the future.
They seem to be working on their dance program as they have full Japanese teams on every level (novice/junior/senior), they have a lot of work to do but the fact that the teams exist alone is a good thing... maybe they'll have a halfway decent team by 2022. With pairs though other than Takahashi/Tran they only have two jr pairs and they both have a non-Japanese man which does nothing for future Olympics so I really don't even understand the point of them existing lol
I love that Miyabi went for a 3A with no preparation. Maybe if she had telegraphed it like most people do, she would have landed it. I think Mariko Kihara is really cute and has potential. I think Satoko will lose her jumps soon but maybe she can get them back. I wonder if Oda or Miki will end up coaching some of these bbs.
I'll never be able to like Rika unless she fixes her absolutely terrible posture.
For men, I would love for the 2018 team to be Taka(if he sticks around), Keiji and Kento but that will never happen ;__;
I wonder if Japan can even be in the team event next year because they won't have a dance team.
I really do look forward to seeing some of the skaters now becoming coaches Yamato Tamura is on the coaching team for Satoko Miyahara, Mariko Kihara and Marin Honda so whenever I see him in the K&C with them it makes me happy.
