I feel bad for the skaters, especially the young kids coming up through the ranks. The judging system is viewed as bogus by so many, the sport is regarded as a joke, and fans have given up (though the economy honestly isn't helping much here, either). The especially sad thing to me is the demise (in the US, anyway) of the professional circuit and the skating shows, which allowed fans to continue enjoying their favorites once their amateur/ Olympic-eligible days were over.
It's so sad to see the demise of what was once winter sport's marquee event. Why would any family pay so much money to have their kid train in a sport that will offer so little reward? By the time Cinquanta and his allies have finished running roughshod over figure skating, there won't be anything left of the sport worth salvaging. Such a pity.
Those of us who choose to still watch are gluttons for punishment, subjecting ourselves willingly to outrage after outrage for the benefit of witnessing those rare memorable performances that have no chance of ever winning.
It's like looking in the mirror. At least misery loves company.
Yeah. I increasingly wonder why I continue to follow this sport at all. It seems to be losing the art and creativity which was the very reason I loved it so much. Cinquanta has got to go!
The Skating Union - a real life kingdom with an evil king. <33 I just hope that all these Speedy's shenegians will lead to some kind of revolution in the skating world. I don'tthink the skaters like what's happenning very much. And about the ~Evil Eastern block: lol, no, it's not block voting, it's relatively weak federations voting beacuse Cinquanta promises them some things. And, for example, if a person thinks that Armenia and Azerbaijan would unite as allies in a ny sence of the world they just understand nothing about the politics (even in skating).
