Such sore losers!
I guess PChan has nothing to be sore about though really.
This is crazy that with everything that went on throughout the season, this is what they come up with.
It's complete madness.
This is what gives figure skating a bad name and makes people not support it.
Nutter scoring systems and sore whinging losers!
Sheesh...

I still think their last lift is way too long. I counted and I don't get how it fits under 6 seconds

Yeah the 3rd one, right before the end. Maybe it's legal but IDK, it seems to go on for a really long time. It makes me a little dizzy tbh.

So Scott was right. This error was already detected by Doris on GoldenSkate even before the ISU did the random check thing. Doris reviewed the protocols after it was posted.

Did Scott specifically mention an error in calculation in the FD? Because I remember in the article he was angriest about the gap in the SD scores (if you took away the deduction they were still trailing by a few points):

Despite his fall in the Latin-flavoured short dance, Moir was of the opinion he and Virtue got shafted. “It didn’t make sense to us in the short dance for some of our scores, especially some of the GOEs.”

He continued: “We didn’t get our levels in the short dance. They were being pretty sticky with them so we really tried to focus on that today.” From this article

I know both teams acknowledged the closeness of the FD

Loving this. The title of this article only is glorious. Seriously, why make all that fuss, to arrive at the same result, only making everyone look worse. Well, everyone but Meryl and Charlie :P

Agreed. What difference did it make? Unless some error was uncovered that would make up for V/M's 5-pt deficit after the short dance, the final result was still going to be the same.

I agree with both of your comments. ...And I just wanted to give some drive-by icon love! I wonder what the Doctor was facepalming at. :D

LOL. Dr. was facepalming in the first episode of last season, not over figure skating, though I like to think he drops in for the occasional competition ("front row seats for EVERY Winter Olympics, and let me just say right now that I had NOTHING to do with that scoring controversy in 2054"). : D

Back on topic, it strikes me as really bad form to complain about your second-place standing when you had such a big, obvious error. And it's not as though D/W were any kind of slouches; they delivered two really solid programs. Even if the scoring hadn't been an issue and V/M had won the freedance at the time... D/W still would've won the overall title based on their combined SD/FD score. They would've needed to make a major mistake in the FD for V/M to win.

in other news, ISU is still trying to show off their SAT vocabulary.

"The difference of 0.5 points emanating from this calculation error"

"resulting" would have been just fine.

at least "homologate" was used correctly even if the word choice is uncommon; using "emanate" here is just wrong. Reading it literally is pure LOL, and even stretching the definition a bit it still doesn't fit the connotations of the word. the appropriate way to use that word would be in a phrase like "the aura emanating from plushenchrist" or something...

lol emanating omg how did I not notice. So the difference in points leaked into the surrounding air, did it?
