Miki Ando will take the whole season off and aim for Sochi

Japan Skating Federation made an announcement on November 1st that Miki Ando (23), who won the World Championships in April this year, will not be competing at the Japan Figure Skating Championships scheduled to take place in December. awwww :( not a surprise though. I hope she does come back again, but she's already achieved so much I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't. Thanks for the translation bb!

=( Sad for us, but good if she's really training for Sochi (which I think she is, she was so close to the podium last time). Wishing her the best and I hope she cuts loose and eats a ton, plenty of time to lose weight later TBH

Not surprising, but awwww. Well Miki deserves the break, I hope she has a nice long rest and is happy with whatever she ends up doing. <3

This season is going to be interesting though; no Miki and no Yuna means that other ladies will have a much better shot at the world podium.

Awe. I'll miss seeing her compete, but girl's gotta do. Even if she decides to retire instead of going to Sochi, she's had a career any skater can be proud of.
