IKR and it's not even like he's always been like this, he cycles between being humble and then making outrageous statements that negate his previous statements. IDGI.
As much as I love him dearly, I would not mind seeing a bit of failure during Skate Canada. Failure is humbling. At least I hope.
some of the other skaters are going to be working really hard to somewhat be at my level

the latter easily bested Kozuka by 22.57 points
this is assuming that Taka is ever scored fairly
If I hit [an overall score of] 300 it's almost like I can sort of put the new judging system on the map, and kind of make it easier for the audience to watch skating
How is that going to work, jw. When he hits 300 on inflated scores it will mean nothing.
In short, open mouth, insert foot, gag on it please.
"If I hit [an overall score of] 300 it's almost like I can sort of put the new judging system on the map, and kind of make it easier for the audience to watch skating," he said. "That would be my long-term goal: to bring skating back on the map and make it a bit easier for people to understand the [scoring] system."

It's actually worse than him thinking 300 is a nice round number to set a record at.
There was article earlier in which he was more explicit about how he thought 300=perfection in the same way that 6.0=perfection. (it's like he thought...300 is evenly divisible by 6 so those poor 6.0 fans who don't understand COP can just do some mental math while they're watching!)
which doesn't make sense at all b/c -6.0 was a limit scale system and COP is not. you can't get above 6.0. if he gets 300, him or someone else can get 301 the next week. -you can get 6.0 separately for short and long programs, and for technical v. artistic marks. 300 is an aggregate score. wasn't half the fun of 6.0 watching the battle between the 5.8/5.9 skater and the 5.9/5.8 skater anyway?
