This guy is virtually unknown outside of Japan but Absolute Skating did an interview with him and no I'm not wasting this chance! :D

It's the off-season anyway so take some time to learn about a FABULOUS DANCER ON THE ICE:

Thanks for posting! He has a appealing style.

It's a really good interview! It really shows how hard it is to be one of the skaters on the verge. I hope he achieves all his goals and becomes more widely known!

Yeah, I think he's too good to be buried without ever getting the chance to compete at the GPS...

Crossing my fingers he'll get that 3A consistent and make a splash on the scene next season!

I LOVE AKIO & I'M PROUD TO BE AN AKIO-IST \o/

Not seeing him live is one of my great regrets last season so I hope I get the chance this year :D

I LIKE THIS KID. HIS SKATING IS FUN. I HOPE HE CONTINUES TO IMPROVE :DDD PLUSHY AND DAI STANNING, EXCELLENT TASTE TBH

Japanese singles skaters really have it tough. ;___; Sometimes I wish they'd go represent other countries but that's not really an option, is it...

Hey you never know! Shawn Sawyer didn't make the team 'till this year I believe. And there's skaters like Joanie who don't really hit their stride 'till later :3

This is a really good interview.
I didn’t want my parents to pay extra money for my competition for nothing.
I would feel the same way if I were a skater.
His programs are really fun and I feel bad for him because there's no way he'll ever make a World or Olympic team and I don't know if he could ever be on Grand Prix either :(

I really love his answer when he's asked about his relationship with skating. He's such a sweet guy and I wish him the best :D

Let's hope he skates brilliantly when he gets his big chance!
