I'm starting to wonder if there's something behind this talk of starting another tour. At first I brushed it off as unlikely and just another example of Johnny... not exactly lying, but not really owning his words, either? But now, idk. I'm wondering if the decision to push the SOI thing is less about actually trying to get into SOI (especially since I don't think they really would've thought that was possible) but to test the waters and test how likeable Johnny is. The petition might be a way to court sponsors - pointing out they got 10,000 signatures in a week to a potential sponsor would mean more than just saying he has a lot of fans without giving any quantitative data. I still think it's unlikely to happen anytime soon, but you never know. Long term plan, perhaps?

You might be on to something.
Being totally late to the party (discovered him only this year!) I still hope he doesn´t retire from competing. but it seems more likely every day :( Why oh why all the mixed messages, Johnny? :(

I'm a little torn, to be honest. If it's a choice between him competing and him doing fashion, I'm selfish and I want to see him skating, so I'll go for competition. But if he's really interested in organizing a tour? It's kind of the best of both worlds. He'd still be skating, but making more money and enjoying himself more. If he continues to compete, I think it will be because he feels he still has something to prove and that's sad to me. He skated very well at the Olympics - two clean skates, and he didn't choke like he has in the past. At the end of the day it should be a performance he's proud of, and I'd like him to go out on that sort of note, I guess.

If he goes pro, he can be more relaxed and he won't have to deal with the USFSA, ISU, judges, etc. He can surround himself with people who actually treat him well, and that would be nice to see. Plus, I can't claim to be against the idea of him having more exhibition type skates instead of short and long programs that are limited in their creativity by all the required elements

I was confused when he announced withdrawing from Worlds, but was talking about taking a short break, reworking technique and bringing medals in future. Retirement announcement would have made sense at that point. But honestly I think even he himself doesn´t know about next season, he seems to be on crossroads with his career.

I just saw the most hilarious video of Daisuke ever on a Japanese YouTube-like website. It involves Miki zipping up his hoodie completely so he can't see anything and then pushing him into the boards head-first. You can't watch it on the site without being registered, but if I upload it can you make a gif out of it? (Well, I guess it's not fierce, but it's really funny and captures the essence of Daisuke in like 30 seconds!)
