LMAO the post is just an excuse, isn't it? :P

LOL this rule:
If during the Death Spiral Lady’s head never reaches the level of her skating knee, the Death Spiral will have no value.

Better luck next time

Hmm... IDK if I like the new changes. Why do they keep lowering the importance of steps and who are these changes likely to benefit?

Personally, I think Takahashi will be at a disadvantage since steps are his forte. I'm still pissed that they lowered the number of required step sequences. They're my favorite part.

That's what I was thinking =/.

I am happy they're cracking down on the Death Spirals though. It's becoming the forgotten element.

well, i think that they are reducing the importance of steps as a function of demonstrating how many turns you can do and increasing the importance of steps as part of the program.

for example, Chan got a bunch of extra points for the level 4 and a higher goe scale which allowed him to get 6 pts for his steps vs. 3 for Takahashi and Kozuka in the SP. I don't really see Chan's steps as doubly better even though he may demonstrate more difficulty according to the rules.

I'm still ruminating over your explanation. :) I've got to go back and read it again. This is all kinda confusing to me.

I'm glad they LOCKED DOWN on that butt spiral and I'm excited to see Yukiko Fujisawa's again change of edge layback again!

Spins are getting harsher and harder to attain the levels, which means even more buttspins haha.

I'd love to see if they will actually enforce the "must correspond with the music" rule on steps

I think that if they do enforce the "correspond with music" rule, the more artistic and musical skaters will finally be able to shine score wise instead of just performance wise. That would be a plus for me. Although, this could get taken in the completely opposite direction in which judges who don't know anything about music try to judge it and judge it in the wrong way. I hope it doesn't become an excuse for them to take points off of music they don't like or are too closed minded to understand the interpretation of.

yeah, i don't really like how steps don't match the music at all. like, i know it's hard to get the level, but yeesh.

i wonder if that means they will take additional points off for things like stumbles and falls in steps then.
