oh like how i am supposed to read this paper but then i check wikipedia for this term i don't know and the next half hour i'm checking my fl and ending up on ontd_science.

I think the idea is that multitaskings can't fully focus on anything. They're too busy being engrossed with mass consumption of information that they never learn the same skills that people that tackle one task at a time do.

The problem is that the paper doesn't examine the consequences (including the important one : how does it affect productivity ?).

I know that I hate doing one thing at a time. If I forced myself to stay on one thing until it was finished, it would ultimately take longer and be of lesser quality.
There might also be an advantage for a company to have people who pay attention to "irrelevant" information because you never know how irrelevant things really are.
