This does seem likely that art style may be at play too. Jesus's own body weight has wandered a lot over the years to match the current style.

I'd kind of like to see that Super Bowl portion sizes test done. And not just the portion sizes, but perhaps the nutritional value (if there is any) of the foods as well.
But it's also worth asking how "accurate" this would be, because it looks to me like people are more likely to eat different foods/ different amounts on Super Bowl Sunday than they would on an average day.

So basically.....we have bigger loaves of bread now?

And it is art, so I'm not sure how much we can trust it to faithfully reproduce the size of food. In Michaelangelo's Pieta, Mary is way bigger than Jesus, but I doubt that says much about the size of women back then.

Yes, but the use of extreme size differences in La Pieta were deliberate and symbolic. As for food, well, I think it's a different story...
