As much as I hate the idea of a former president of the United States going on trial for war crimes, I think it needs to be done. The United States needs to hold itself to the same standards to which we hold others. The US would have been at the forefront of those protesting the war and agitating for trial had it been Iran or China invading Iraq.

Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove, and whomever else was instrumental in redirecting funds allocated by Congress for the rebuilding and stabilization of Afghanistan toward manufacturing the "intelligence" that was used as a pretext for invading Iraq as well as those responsible for approving the policies that directed the illegal detention and torture of suspected terrorists should have been tried for treason and then turned over to The Hague for trial for war crimes already.
