Two men unlucky enough to get both HIV and cancer have been seemingly cleared of the virus, raising hope that science may yet find a way to cure for the infection that causes AIDS, 30 years into the epidemic

This is really exciting. Can't wait to see what else develops. Hopefully in the near future, it won't take having cancer to be able to be cured and it will be affordable to everyone. Most of the infected don't have a good income. Would be nice if it were affordable.
It might become affordable just so insurance companies don't have to keep paying and paying for the expensive drugs that keep it in check. When you're paying three grand a month for as long as a person lives while under your policy, a quarter million dollars for a cure suddenly seems like a very good investment.
Or whatever the numbers might be, specifically. HIV isn't the quick death sentence it once was, so curing it is likely to be more cost-effective than paying for a lifetime of drugs.
(Of course, this only works insofar as insurance companies and the like can be made to play fair and not kick people off their contracts through trickery and the like.)
Oh, I hope they are on the right track to something big, something helpful. I've watched too many people die. I hope this leads to a broader cure, it's so exciting to see any progress made.
Wow. Can you imagine being the guy who's had it since the 80s and the moment he was told, "Um- btw- you're.. um- at the moment - HIV free. Congrats..."
Yeah. Since the time when AIDS was a mysterious quick killer, since HIV was a death sentence . . . to have seen all that and then be, in essence, one of the first people cured . . . just, wow.
