We paid tithing to the LDS church for a short time, because we wanted to go to the Temple and get sealed as a family. I'm kind of glad my husband lost his job in 2009, no money going to them.

Their criticism on PCCs prices are a bit harsh. Yeah, it doesn't change the fact that the center rakes in a lot of money a year and, yes, I think it should get federally taxed, but compared to most of the other luaus and stuff on the island which tends to be just "throw a spear, make a cheap-ass headband lei, eat some pork, and watch a show" for pretty much the same price if not more (because we love to squeeze every last cent out of our tourists), the center does a damn good job

I find it a little bizarre that the Mormon church is associated with Polynesian culture. Like that Johnny Lingo movie they funded several decades back. Seems so strange. Idk.

As for the PCC, much of the focus on Polynesian cultures is tied to the belief that Polynesians are descendants of the Lamanites of the Book of Mormon.
