Apparently he missed the part of Medical School that involves the Hippocratic Oath.

Oh wait... isn't that like, all of it?

Last time I checked physicians were supposed to treat sick people. And that includes people who do not exercise and have diabetes - which is a growing number of people every year.

Don't want to treat sick people? Find another line of work.

Exactly. I'm hoping to be a doctor, and yeah it'd be great if my future patients all ate an excellent diet, exercised appropriately, got enough sleep, etc. They'd need to see future me less often. But, there are any number of reasons a person might not be doing those things. And, even if the reason is sheer laziness... it'd still be my job to try to get them back on track. Period.

All I see is just stirring the pot. Yeah let's stir the pot. Let's scare people and tell them it's all a sham, etc.

Way to go, once again, FOX.

Is there even much truth to the claim that many doctors do not take insurance? I would expect that to be a very tiny fraction- given that only a tiny fraction of people can afford health care all out of pocket without insurance.
I know most doctors only take certain types, but just not taking any kind of insurance period?

I mentioned that in my comment below, but I've only encountered it once where a doctor didn't accept ANY insurance. He also operates in Scottsdale, AZ, which is a fairly affluent part of metropolitan Phoenix.

a LOT of upper echelon doctors don't take any insurance -- like, the sort of places that really rich people go to, in manhattan and the like. my sister's gynecologist used to take insurance, but then she got a gig as a medical expert on cnn and a book deal and upgraded her practice so it's all out of pocket. my sister still goes there, because her doctor nearly saved her life when she was misdiagnosed about six years ago, and she does her best to file through her own insurance company. it's really not that uncommon among the "fanciest" practitioners.

They are so awful.

Fat people aren't Americans, doctors should get to ignore the Hippocratic oath and not provide care, and you just straight lie about how they don't accept Medicare/Medicaid. What is this exultation and expectation of doctors being in it for pure profit, and not, oh, um FOR THE SAKE OF HELPING PEOPLE? So, so evil.

Also, I hope these shits don't smoke, and drink excessively, or else that can be a preexisting condition, too, and a doctor shouldn't fucking treat THEM. It's disgusting that this SC decision is highlighting how too many feel like affordable healthcare is only for a certain set of people who *deserve it*.

It is indeed disgusting. But at the same time it's extremely revealing. This is forcing certain people into showing their true colors, and I think that's a good thing in a way.
