i challenge you to find any liberally minded american in their 20s/30s for whom "the west wing" wasn't central to their political development

What do I win?

Do I get runner-up since I probably saw five minutes of one episode once and it was only because my father dragged me in the tv room?

:( i'll take it out if it's distracting people from the article at hand, but it seemed like such a truism for basically everyone i've met in young (democratic) political circles.

My daughter (age 26) is definitely liberally minded, and I don't think she's ever watched an episode of the West Wing. I'm just sayin'!

I watched like 20 minutes of one episode and found it really dull and never watched it again.

That said, I will watch "The Newsroom," partly because the main character is an homage to Keith Olbermann. Sorkin actually spent time on the set of MSNBC's Countdown in 2010, doing research for "The Newsroom"

I'm 30 and that would probably describe me. I vaguely remember watching some early episodes, but none of them ever stuck, and I never watched the entire series from start to finish.

The only things I know about that show came from my father (who was a huge fan) rambling about it, and the gifs and jpgs I see on the net. I once had the whole "in this room when the President stands, nobody sits" speech written out, but that's it.

I'm 25 and never watched it at all.

“I’m sick of girls who don’t know how to high-five,” he says.

Is it mean of me to hope he's sick for a very long time? What a jerkwad.

Someday a "girl" will demonstrate her "high-five" ability on his face.
