Thank you! Comments today have been more than a bit depressing. We don't all need to go hide in a corner, and we can't all just pack up and leave. We need to stand up and work together to take back our country, one town/parish/county/city/state at a time.
Other than they don't believe sea level projections are accurate... what is the fucking purpose of this? How does this negatively affect business who have a problem with coastline management?
The sheer level of ridiculousity in this is mind blowing for me. Business interests are more impacted by environmental watercourse protections than they are by sea level rise. Like. To the tune of 30 metres on either side of sensitive watercourses (in BC). I know things are not the same in the US but really. REALLY.
This is like saying that because earthquake predictions are so hit and miss that we're not going to make them anymore. And that's making a comparison between earthquake prediction (a difficult and unweildy task) with sea level rise prediction (something we fucking know is happening and we aren't doing the things we need to stop it.)
And the people who won't be able to pack up and leave, I'll wager are NOT the people making laws like this or pushing for them to be made. They'll be victims of the shortsighted selfishness of others. A law that outlaws...planning ahead for broadly accepted environmental likelihoods. smh

The problem is that the people who will 'feel the burden' are not the ones who are putting these laws in place and not everybody can just leave.
