The President’s Kill List

Jun 05, 2012 23:45

What is wrong with the President sitting in a room, looking at lists and portraits of people-a Somali man, a seventeen-year-old girl, an American citizen-and deciding whom to kill? That, according to long and troubling articles in both the Times and Newsweek, is a job Barack Obama has assigned himself. His aides, notably John Brennan, his counter- ( Read more... )

i don't trust any politicians.

however, i distrust Republicans in general much more than President Obama, so.

but this is disgraceful. what sucks is, even if it's publicized and publicily criticized and they announce they'll stop doing it...they're not really going to stop doing it. They never will. I don't understand why people are so surprised by this.

pretty amazing how this type of truly appalling policy under Obama is met with a shrug while under Bush there's no doubt this type of thing would lead to him being labeled a cowboy war-criminal. ahhh, partisan hypocrisy.

Exactly! If Bush had done the same, this community would be in an outrage. Obama does it and they're like "but the republicans are worse!" Obama has crossed a line that even Bush didn't.

What is it about this position and process to get that position which makes everyone become morally bankrupt.

And why doesn't anyone care?

Running an empire can't be done without this sort of thing. Nobody can become president without accepting this.

No. That's not acceptable. Something is broken in the system and I don't give a shit bout what empires did before. Humans are better than that and since this doesn't fix anything, or protect anyone we can do better.

But first, people have to care. Which they don't, so I guess people are just happy with the status quo.

You misunderstand me. It is absolutely unacceptable, but empires cannot exist without this sort of thing, which is why there should be no empires. They are wrong. Period.

This kind of stuff is just terrifying. And overwhelmingly so. Sometimes our government seems so broken, I just can't even see it ever being fixed.
