Ken Bennett, Arizona's secretary of state, is the latest person to question the President's birthplace, although he's doing it the way people do when they want to call it into question but don't want to seem like a loon. Bennett, a Republican who perhaps coincidentally is planning to run for governor in 2014, said on a radio show last week that he' ( Read more... )

The full e-mail chain is hilarious. TPM has it posted:

Emails Show How Hawaii Stiffed Arizona Secretary Of State’s Birther Investigation

Looks like Hawaii's Deputy AG was just not going to play along with Arizona's grandstanding. Haha.

I notice that her emails to him start out nice enough, addressing him as "Hi Ken" and offering actual useful information; then as he continues to be increasingly stupid and ignore her replies, she retreats more and more into the impassive formality of "Dear Mr. Bennett."

The best part is that by the end of their exchange she's basically demanding the same level of proof from him that he even has the legitimate legal authority to care about the birth certificate that he's demanding from Hawaii.

Also, the demand for proof that he's applying the same level of scrutiny to ALL candidates and not just one is made of win.

And I couldn't help but notice that he declined to even address that point! I kind of wish she had called him out on that more directly; however, her overall response was made of so much win that I'm willing to overlook that niggle. :D

Hawaii must be SO sick of all this b.s. I have to give them a ton of credit for how they have handled it.

I find it interesting that people who claim to be fiscal conservatives are wasting so much time and money trying to prove that a man who has nearly completed his first presidential term is ineligible to be president.

That said, I'm glad Hawaii's having a little fun with this.

Just wait. If President Obama wins a second term, these people will be even more insufferable.
