Great news! Kiev, the city of my birth, has been ranked by Traveler's Digest as number one - as far as the presence of "beautiful women" is concerned, that is. Am I glad? Or am I a joyless feminazi who will use this news as an excuse to launch into a diatribe about how the beauty of women is a red herring in a country as plagued by social problems

This is so damn depressing. How is it we've managed to take one of the most fun, awesome things out there - sex - and turned it into this ugly, violent, demeaning and damaging, even fatal - 'trade'?

Totally agree with your comment, and in response I want to bring in a random quote which has stuck with me for a long time: "terrorism takes many forms, but most often the violence is sexual to convince the victim their suffering is part of their very identity, as unchangeable as their sex or skin color." what this says to me is that its all a form of control, and exploitation of others. Whether this is because the oppressor enjoys power or sex or he melding of he two... Maybe I'm not qualified to say.. By anyway I was def thinking throughout this whole article how depressing when sex is one of the most fun things to do evar! :( so lol I just wanted to give you credit for mentioning it.
