I'm really angry about social media and reporters' emphasis on the BMW instead of the people who were shot inside the BMW. Would they be focused on the car if it were a white person? I honestly don't think so. Hopefully, they find the shooter soon. That gives a nasty new angle to something that's made me rage for years
( ... )
Graargh, how fucking blatant! The constant spreading around of bibles doesn't even register with these people. On what planet is being told that a religion exists "agressive"?
And as a fairly rabid atheist I would love to not be bothered by any religion whatoever, but christian evangelism is everywhere, from personal testimonies on Pinterest, to billboards on every train station against "taking the lord's name in vain". I'm totally for forbidding this! But then it has to be every single religion. Do stop the (sad, completely harmless,) people who stand with their sndwich boards in the street trying to warn everyone that the end is near, we should repent and find Jesus. That's different? HOW?
I was really bothered by the emphasis that they were in a BMW also. The car doesn't really matter. There's another story in Los Angeles about a bicyclist that was struck in Downtown last Friday, and although it's important to note that the vehicle involved was a Lexus in order to find the driver, some discussion boards see it is a class struggle, characterizing the Lexus occupants as wealthy.
That's really gross. It reminds me of the whole porsche girl thing (don't Google it if you have a weak stomach) -- a 17 year old was killed in a car accident while driving a porsche, and it was a particularly gruesome scene. The photos got plastered all over the internet and the family got a lot of pretty horrible prank calls. If she had been driving a crappier car, (and if she had been male, most likely) it probably would not have garnered so much attention...
I think it was also the fact that she took the car, was driving at over 100mph and ended up clipping a civic (No idea what happened to the civic). Supposedly, crack was found in the toxicological report. And we know how highly folks in America think of anyone who uses or used drugs. High speed accidents tend to get a lot of gawkers, too.
It also got sensationalized since the photos had been leaked by the CHP officers at the scene. They both ended up quitting or being fired.
Frankly, it shouldn't matter if she was being irresponsible. Taunting her family with photos, phone calls, etc to the point they pull their other daughter out of school is horrible and fucked up. At least they had the funds to hire someone to help pull most of the photos off.
I only post this to spare other the googling. :/ Egads, some people are gruesome...
Edit: But yeah, I definitely agree on those points.
