Fox’s Geraldo Rivera Blames Hoodie For Trayvon Martin’s DeathAs ThinkProgress noted, Fox News ignored the controversy over the killing of Trayvon Martin at first, even after every other network was covering it, but maybe they were better off not covering the issue than what they’re doing now ( Read more... )

Me too, I feel totally ill. The other day I was asking here if people were saying shit like this, I couldn't believe it. I had been away and unable to read the news. Well I sure learned =( Everywhere I look... I literally feel sick to my stomach.

Having Geraldo ever make sense will take more than rehabilitation. It will take time...gasoline...a flame-thrower...

Sorry. I had to respond to your Community icon with a mangled Jeff quote, because damn Martin's cold-blooded murder makes me fucking furious.

I'm pretty Goddman sure that "the victim was wearing a hoodie" wasn't the deciding factor in the shoot/don't shoot scenario.

I'm pretty sure that I, as a white woman, would not have been shot if I was wearing a hoodie.

I know, right? If even someone at Fox can tell this is going to be incredibly dumb and offensive, you know we're heading to a new low. And boy did he deliver.

When Steve Doocy is worried about you saying something terrible, you know you're in trouble.

“I think the hoodie is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin’s death as George Zimmerman (his killer).”

But I am urging the parents of black and Latino youngsters particularly to not let their children go out wearing hoodies. I think the hoodie is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin’s death as George Zimmerman was.

Dear I-dont-know-who-the-fuck-you-are, take some time to think before you speak because rn now all I hear/read is bullshit.

He had an almost jerry springer like day time tv show in the 80s and progressed to more "serious" news in the late 90s. He's just a reporter, pretty much.

Gosh darnit I was going to wear a hoodie today too! Oh well, don't want to get killed! Or raped! I need to straighten out what clothes I'm allowed to wear.

Don't go out. That's the best solution.

Hmm, let's see, we can't wear a hoodie or short shorts or a dress or a skirt or anything revealing...

Hmm, a burqa?

No, they hate those, too.

I think the only reasonable conclusion must be that they want everyone who is not white and male to stay indoors and let them handle everything.

WTF! Victim blaming at its finest. The young man was not wearing anything different than millions of other people wear every day without getting shot. Geraldo, you are disgusting. And you know what? You're incredibly racist, because what you are really saying is that the victim would have been safe if he hadn't been a young black man. But since he couldn't change the color of his skin its his fault for not changing the color of his hoodie.

I hope you go on an investigative report to the remotest part of our planet and step in a nest of fire ants.
