Detroit has the only nonprofit agency in the Midwest that focuses on LGBT youth - the Ruth Ellis Center, which co-hosted Friday’s conference

My grad school has an annual charity banquet that supports an organization chosen by the student body. In theory it could be any organization, anywhere, but a local group (ie, in Michigan) always ends up winning and a few years ago the Ruth Ellis Center was our recipient. :)
