smh for Bill Maher. The guy is a total asshole. I've hated him for years (lol @ self, i can't even remember what he said that pissed me off so much way back when), not surprised he continues to be a douche.

I watched him back in his Politically Incorrect days, when I was a pre/teenager, and even back then I remember having moments where I thought "What the actual fuck?" Like he would always invite the co-authors of The Rules to represent the "female" view of dating, which of course just allowed him to dismiss all women as manipulative and wedding-obsessed. That's just off the top of my head, like you, I have trouble keeping all his fuckery straight.

Yeah, my hatred definitely stems from Politically Incorrect, but I can't remember precisely what he said that made me so angry.

This. I got a ton of shit from people when the girl who bullied me in middle and high school showed up on my Facebook last year asking for forgiveness for the shit she did and I ignored her. The girl made fun of me for my father dying suddenly. She can ask all she wants but I refuse to feel obligated to accept her apology 16 years later so she can avoid looking back and feeling like shit now that she knows what she did is wrong.

Back on-topic, we sure as HELL don't have to accept a speech that is labeled an apology incorrectly! Ugh.

Was reading a journal defending Limbaugh's freedom of speech. Well, yeah, he's got the freedom to speak his mind and his sponsors have the freedom to choose to not be affiliated with his show.

Exactly. No one is claiming he has no right to say those things. But we have the right to call him an idiot and a bully and encourage others to agree with us.

Yes. And we have the freedom to organize and use those organizations to encourage sponsors to exercise their freedoms too. The first amendment (which is what most people mean when they say "freedom of speech") only protects against government censorship. It does not guarantee venue, audience, payment, or protection from response.
