Church of Scientology demands right to underpay workers

The Church of Scientology in Australia has asked the Federal Government for an exemption to the Fair Work Act so they do not have to pay workers the minimum wage.

The Daily Telegraph says

Ms Anderson said making non-profit organisations pay award wages was “a violation of human rights”.

I think y'all need to check your definitions of certain terms, Ms. Anderson.

I don't understand the fuss. Simply pay them the minimum wage and force them to give it back to the company cult. Class action law suit averted. *feels very cynical today*

Not only do I hope that the Australian government deny the Church's ridiculous request, but I hope they investigate the CoS for child abuse.

Senator Nick Xenophon (who is easily one of the best politicians in our history) has been pushing for an inquiry for years now. Unfortunately Parliament doesn't seem to think it's a priority so nothing has really happened, despite the damning evidence in the Four Corners story that led to the Fair Work inquiry in the first place.
