A Michigan GOP Senate hopeful is drawing criticism for running a Super Bowl ad showing a young Asian woman speaking in broken English and thanking his opponent for propping up China's economy.

I wrote and rewrote a few sarcastic comments, but tbh sarcasm doesn't really cover it. What an asshole. How could ANYONE think this is a good idea?

eta: holy shit, Hoekstra is now saying that 'that those "trying to make this an issue of race demonstrates their total ignorance of job creation policies".' worst attempt to derail EVER.

What, racism attracts jobs now?

How many jobs are formed per slur, Hoekstra? Is the job creation proportional to how many people heard the slur? What about stereotypes? Does the broken English net more jobs than the hats, or vice versa? INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW!

Probably. On the other hand I personally know some Asians who wouldn't find this racist/offensive at all and probably wouldn't have an issue with doing an ad like this, if it paid well.

For starters, I would love to know if the actress is Chinese/Chinese-American.
