In other news, Vitter (yes, that Vitter) has taken credit for the defunding of PP by Komen.

Yeah! Jackie Speier!

"I have been a big booster of the Susan G. Komen organization," Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) said on the House floor, "but not anymore."

OIC! So you didn't bow to political pressure, you just let one person in the organization decide this based on her personal bias. That makes this even worse.

You may get this ironed out at some point, but my $s aren't coming back. Ever. I've made an annual donation to Planned Parenthood and Komen for a number of years. This year, Planned Parenthood is getting both donations. Next year I may or may not give both donations to PP. But I'll tell you what, Komen won't be seeing any of it.

I'm sick and tired of PP being demonized by the conservative base. Shame on you Komen. But $650,000 to PP - money talks ya know.

I hope this absolutely drives a stake into the heart of Komen. I hope they cease to exist as an organization. I think we're all aware that breast cancer exists so we don't need these assholes telling us. The rest of what they do seems to be just collecting money, divvying it up amongst themselves then scattering a few crumbs to organizations who do real work. I say we just donate directly to THOSE organizations.

I was fairly indifferent to them till I heard that they had trademarked their "Race for the Cure" line, and any other cancer who did a race couldn't use the same tagline. That was it for me-it just smelled entirely wrong.
