Not gonna lie, if they came in black I'd want a pair.

Awww, that's too bad! My husband was stationed at MCAS Miramar and I saw them a lot when the men and women in his barracks didn't want to get "normal" glasses.

Yeah, they were service-wide. I assume the new ones will be too.

Yeah, my friend's husband has a pair, and as soon as he came back from Iraq, they went someplace to never be seen again.

Did Rachel Maddow's popularity have anything to do with this decision? I know hers aren't exactly the same but ... she did revive the big bulky spectacle, no?

Or perhaps I'm just using this as a thin excuse to post an image of Rachel Maddow.

The Maddow glasses should be issued to everyone, not just recruits.

Hm, anyone in the military know if there's any exceptions? My prescription is so strong that I have to specifically choose small frames because otherwise the lens would be SUPER SUPER thick. No way could I wear such large glasses.

OTOH it occurs to me that my eyesight is so terrible that it would rule me ineligible to serve in the military.

Depending on how bad your vision is they might not let you into the service at all.

I'm legally blind, but correct to 20-20, so they let me in. It depends on what your eyes correct to.

Might be hard to get in with it now, they are pushing so many people out so who knows what they are doing about waivers anymore.
