Hard to believe anyone finds the disinterested women in that photo appealing. :/

A one-time payment doesn't make sense to me but I like offering instruction in life skills. I think Ms Vera should be put in charge of the money.

Because Johns are seeking women who are super interested and happy.

it seems like a step in the right direction and yet, totally inadequate.
It's also a bit galling that pimps get more money from the gov't than the prostitutes do from the payout.

I figured they give pimps more since they're the ones getting the women into the work - stop one prostitute, and you stop one person Stop a pimp, and you've potentially stopped everyone he was going to one day have working for him in the future.

If they're making 7 to 10 million rupiah in a month, why would a payment of 3 million be an incentive to quit?

I really don't like 1)the women being paid less and 2)the motivation is that it makes the city 'look bad'. Not that the woman are possibly being coerced, abused, raped....

Meh.

I have mixed feelings about this. I don't like the stigma against sex workers, but on the other hand let's be real: a lot of these women (especially since there are pimps involved) may be forced or coerced into the trade, and the money may be enough to let them do something they actually want to do. And the money management and lessons are awesome.

But why do the pimps get more money? And it's interesting to hear a sex workers's advocate commenting on how it's not enough money. I'm sure the pimps stand to make far more money, too, and they suffer no consequences from exploiting other people so why quit?

As for the pimps, he attributes their lack of interest to a sense of honour.

Fantasy world.
