"This has been held up for release since 1942 since it was shot, I've been trying to get released ever since,"
..."Red Tails," which stars Cuba Gooding, Jr., and Terrence Howard, is based on the Tuskegee Airmen, the group of pioneering black pilots who fought in the United States' segregated armed forces during World War II.
Stewart remarked the movie truly has the look of a film shot in the 40's. Lucas joked back that he actually shot it in the 40's ad it's been on the shelf that long.
That's odd. What I see on my iPhone that the top billing were 3/4 black. Or you're talking about the cast list because it looks like it's in alphabetical order but wow, that looks bad otherwise.
honestly, before the Daily Show appearance, I had never heard of the movie, or the Tuskeegee airmen (which is pathetic, considering I was a History minor in college and it was NEVER brought up or highlighted)
i can't wait for this movie to come out; it looks awesome
Ooh, now I'm interested to know when and where you went to school. I'm a History major but when I was in high school I learned all about the Tuskeegee airmen--probably because the school I went to was predominantly black and did a decent job highlighting the achievements of people of color for it being the early 90's. My school was in western Pennsylvania.
Agreed on how awesome it looks. I'm hoping the rating will be such that they'll be able to show it at my alma mater!
not the person you were replying to, but I don't recall learning about them in school. This was in a suburb of metro Detroit -at that time the community was almost 100% white, I graduated high school in 1998.
I went to school in Texas, and all we learned was "The Tuskegee Airmen were a unit of African American pilots in WWII". That's it. And I'm pretty sure that was almost verbatim from the textbook.
I felt bad for making fun of the movie poster after I saw the trailer for it during War Horse. Based on the trailer alone I'd see the shit out of Red Tails.

I don't think that date of 1942 can be right. o_O

Actually it's supposed to say 1992, which is decidedly less fun.
