The good quality daycares in my area would have cost me almost my entire months pay. I quit my job and stayed home with my daughter. I now babysit my friends two children at nearly half the cost of putting them in daycare. This has been a win win situation for us. I can't imagine what we would be doing if I didn't have this income, much less how my friend would be able to afford daycare for 2 kids.

It's stupid. I'd like every child to spend her early years with a parent but the gov't it a long way from funding that. That would involve longterm thinking about how much the US could be improved by educated parents with a support network and children getting their needs met. Instead, women are forced to spend 12 hours between work and transportation to go to a job that results in a net loss of income. *sputter*
