So they tried to use him to boost their public image and now that their lies are exposed they're trying to blame it all on him? Man, who knew a young Marine could be so devious and cunning? That's like Charles Montgomery Burns status shit right there.
What. What what what what what what what what what what what WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK CORPS, WHAT ARE YOU DOING.
It's rare I get angry about something that has to do with the Marine Corps, because of something that is personally insulting to me, but FUCKING A ARE YOU SERIOUS WITH THIS BULLSHIT.
Maybe you should have given Medals of Honor to people like Sergeant Bitz, instead of downgrading awards like you did for multiple people who were in the battle of An Nasiryiah (among others; that's just the one I know the most about), so you're not sitting here now looking like FUCKING ASSHOLES.
Jesus christ I just want to punch something.
ALSO: The Web page now reads that the summary “was compiled in collaboration” with Meyer and Marine Corps Public Affairs.
BULLSHIT. NO AWARD RECIPIENT WRITES THEIR OWN FUCKING AWARD PACKET OR THEIR OWN FUCKING CITATION. PERIOD. Seriously, that's complete and total shit. They're trying to get him to take the fall.
The one thing I wish this article got into deeper was that guy with the book. Former Marine, former senior Pentagon official, contacted Meyer days after the attack, made serious bank off a book that (I guess among other things) detailed that same attack, got a six-figure deal to work on Meyer's memoir - he's making money off this MoH. I want to know more about this guy, because he is setting off my shady-motherfucker alarms like crazy.
He actually did good shit in Vietnam (as far as I've heard) and wrote good books based on experiences there - I remember reading "The Village" when I was in, and I own "No True Glory", which is about the battle for Fallujah. This, though ... it's just gross. IDK, in my (admitted most likely biased) opinion, he's screwing over Sgt Meyer, because it sounds like they used the acct in the book for corroboration on the award (unless I'm misreading).
We prefer that stuff is public. There have been a few instances where people locked it because it was a sensitive subject or something, or people were sharing personal stories they didn't want on public intertrons (that is fine). But 99% of the time I see something locked it was done by accident when posted. I assumed that was the case here as I didn't see anything in here that was personal. If you had a reason you wanted this locked please lemme know :)
Nah, there was nothing personal in it. I just have a thing where if it's a really long article posted in full-text, I just sort of feel bad not putting it under a lock since they normally charge to reprint? lol the least rational reasoning ever.
