yup, he constantly spews sexist, racist and homophobic bile. People seem to excuse him either on the grounds that he's part of one of the BBC's most popular programmes (this tends to be the BBC stance) or he's just standing up against this ~PC gone mad!!~ world we live in.

Either way he's never really faced any serious repercussions for the consistently offensive and prejudiced bullshit he comes out with, all the while helping to contribute to an atmosphere or prejudice and hate.

Because his show makes unbelievable amounts of money. Top Gear is hugely popular internationally.

Clarkson is the ringleader of them all, and frankly, there's an interpersonal dynamic between the three of them that, when they aren't being privileged dicks, is a very strong draw on the show. He could wear blackface to a fancy dress event and he'd still only get some bad press and letters.

That was my thought too when I heard about this on the radio this morning.

Love the show, but really... I wouldn't call it "work"... any more than I'd say the radio guys who moan about OWS are "working for a living"...
