Yeah, the "darknet" has been around for quite some time now, threads about it sometimes pop up in 4chan's /x/ board. What anons report there is disturbing to say the least, and there's always someone wanting to do something about it, so I'm glad awesome peeps got the balls to get involved and do something about it. If their actions lead to any arrests, it really will have an impact on IRL child trafficking. Busting a child pornography has a domino effect in many respects and sometimes investigators are even able to hunt down the children in the pictures or stop abuse.
