For anyone in Michigan who needs this information: if you are a low-income household you can register with your utility company so that they can not shut off your electric / gas between October - April. The downside is that you will still owe the money, but you won't freeze to death in your own home like that man in Bay City did.

I have this chart pasted up in my cubicle that I'm looking at right now, that is a graph depiction of the budget:

Military (DoD, War, VA, & Nuclear Weapons programs) - 60%
Health & Human Services - 7%
Education - 6%
State - 5%
Other Programs - 4%
Department of Homeland Security - 3.5%
HUD - 3%
Justice - 2%
Agriculture - 2%
NASA - 1.5%
Energy/Labor/Treasury/Interior/EPA/Transportation - all 1% each

But we can't take a fucking smidgen out of that 60% so that people DON'T FUCKING DIE IN THE WINTER. This country is so fucked up.

You know what though? If they did cut even 1/2 of 1%, the military would make it up by cutting the pay of the enlisted rather than holding off on a big bomber or cutting the pay of the top brass. :(

I think Obama should say he wants to raise the military budget just so I can see the Republicans go into a contrary logic loop meltdown. "We must oppose everything Obama proposes. And we must protect the military. But Obama wants to help the military. Therefore we must reduce the military. But...military...Obama...oppose...protect...NORMAN PLEASE CORRELATE"
