Due to the prospect of a new law in Italy that would give those writing on the internet just 48 hours to remove a post or face a €12,000 fine, the Italian homepage for Wikipedia is now redirecting to a statement specifically opposing the proposed legislation.
The proposed law is known as the "DDL intercettazioni" (Wiretapping Act), and critics ( Read more... )

I also hope the country you're from has never elected a bad president. I'm assuming you're not from the US, right?

You're the OP so you should know that this is a post about Italy's ongoing unsurprising struggles with issues of censorship, freedom of speech and democracy, issues this specific country has long-grappled with considering its rather recent fascist past and the fact that Italians keep re-electing Berlusconi. It's not a post about which country / countries freeze_i_say is eligible to vote in :)

And those struggles are unsurprising because Italians are all fascists, right? Like any otjer country where there's some sort of human rights violation (which would be all of them).
Why are you so racist against Italians? Did one of them run over your cat?

maybe you should stop putting words in my mouth and acting crazy defensive on a post you made :)

And maybe you should consider the irony of making a post about defending freedom of speech and then irrationally screaming racism when someone points out some uncomfortable truths about your country. Just a thought ;)

I'm not saying you can't have an opinion. I'm saying I think your opinion is prejudiced and racist, and I'm explaining why :) But if you think that what I did was fascist, then it explain lots! You just need a dictionary!

And I'm sorry, I'm gonna act defensive when you say a whole country (which includes me, lots of my friends, and my family members, who have NEVER voted for Berlusconi) is fascist. And don't act like you didn't imply it, with ALL of your comments. You called Italy's problems "unsurprising" because of our "fascist past". That's ignorant, and unfair, and I'm gonna have a problem with it. If you're gonna say racist things, don't go crying "BWAH! She called me racist!". You earned it, so deal with it.

if you're any indication of the type of Italians fighting for freedom of speech .... well, there's always Lega Nord to continue Silvio's legacy and for you guys to re-elect indefinitely :)

I'm sorry, am I infringing on your freedom of speech? I thought we were having a discussion.
